On most Android phones, when you tap download in the browser the MP4 file lands in the Download folder in your device storage. Most phones then scan it and show the video right in the photo gallery — called Gallery on stock Android, Gallery on Samsung, or Albums on some brands. If you open the gallery and do not see it yet, just open your file manager, go to the Download folder, and the video is there.
The difference from iPhone is that Android lets you save straight into shared storage with no intermediate step, so the process is shorter. You can also change the default download folder in your browser settings if you want to keep all your videos in one place for easier management.
The advice to use Chrome is not random. Some manufacturer browsers — Samsung Internet being the classic example — sometimes create a hidden file called .nomedia in the download folder, which makes the gallery skip the video even though the file is still on the phone. Chrome does not have this issue, so videos appear right after downloading.
If you already downloaded with another browser and cannot find the video in the gallery, do not assume it failed. Open your Files app, go to the Download folder to confirm the file is there, then download again with Chrome or use a file manager to delete the .nomedia file and the video will reappear.
On Samsung phones, the "downloaded but not in Gallery" issue is usually the system's media scanner being slow rather than a lost file. Quick fix: go to Settings, find the Gallery app, choose Force Stop then Clear Cache, and reopen it; or simply restart the phone so the system re-scans everything.
On Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme, the download process is exactly the same since they all run on Android and only differ in their interface.
