When you save a video straight from the TikTok app, the system stamps two kinds of marks onto it. The first is the TikTok music-note logo together with the @username, drifting between the corners of the screen throughout the clip so you cannot easily cover or crop it. The second is an end screen that shows the creator's name again. Together these are called the watermark, and they exist so TikTok can promote its brand and credit the author.
The trouble is that the watermark makes a video look unpolished when you want to reuse it for a perfectly legitimate reason: keeping a memory, building a compilation, collecting study material, or dropping a clip into a presentation. The constantly moving logo also tends to cover important parts of the frame.
