A TikTok Story is temporary content: it only shows for 24 hours and then disappears from the servers on its own. That is the core difference from a regular video, which stays on the profile long-term and can be downloaded any time. With a Story, once it has expired or the author deletes it, there is no way to retrieve it through the old link.
